A NOVEL NEW APPROACH FOR POST MASTECTOMY RECONSTRUCTION UTILIZING SERI SURGICAL SCAFFOLD, NATRELLE 410 IMPLANTS, LASERS AND STEM CELLS
Tuesday May 13th, 2014
Within the past year, several major advances in the area of implant breast reconstruction have been adopted. Five years ago, I introduced the technique of scarless breast lifts with the use of the SlimLipo laser platform and have treated more than 100 breast patients. Four other innovative techniques were used in the 30 year old prophylactic mastectomy patient viewed below.
This patient’s mother and aunt both had breast cancer and she was BRCA positive. Vectra XT 3D imaging was performed during her visit with me last fall.

Her projected first stage results were achieved with the use of a rapid pneumatic expansion and insertion of a textured gel spacer on the right side. Six months later both breast mounds and flap coverage was accomplished with Natrelle 410 implants, newly introduced Seri™ silk mesh, lasers and adipose derived stem cells. Simultaneously, abdomen was tightened with the SlimLipo laser, also used to tighten excess skin on the opposite breast. At two weeks, the patient is returning to most activities.
Traditionally, this patient who sustained a severe loss to her right breast complication after two MRSA, would have been treated with a flap from her abdomen or back. It is my opinion that Allergan’s new Seri Surgical Scaffold and 410 implants, along with other innovations, avoided the need for the complicated distant flap procedures.
