Obi Plastic Surgery Clinic Newsletter. Issued the
15th of every month, Obi Plastic Surgery Clinic's
Newsletter will be filled with the latest news from the
rapidly growing fields of cosmetic, reconstructive and
plastic surgery. We will feature upcoming procedures,
techniques, and products that are making their way into
the plastic surgery field. We will also highlight
happenings within our office and with our staff.

Welcome
Reception
More than 200 in
attendance
Our staff,
pictured here, in attendance at the reception for Dr.
Murray on the 9th of December where more than 200 guests
and dignitaries attended the event. In addition
to introducing Dr. Murray, the guests
were provided with an art and clinic tour of our 12,000
square foot facility. Attendees from Los Angeles, New
York, Boston and other distant locations were impressed
with the display of world class art at the
clinic. A Harpist and Violist played in concert
with the other festivities of the evening. The Samuel Wells
Surgicenter at the clinic
displayed the latest laser technology in the area
of laser lipolysis (Slim Lipo
platform) as well as
the Novadaq Spy imaging
system. Dr. John Murray, Dr. Lewis Obi
and Memorial Medical Center will be the first
Jacksonville providers of this revolutionary technology
vital for enhancing results of reconstructive breast
procedures.

GRAND WELCOME FOR MY PARTNER DR. JOHN D.
MURRAY
Dr.
Lewis J. Obi
After
three years of active personal effort and ten
years of professional interaction, I have finally
integrated Dr. John D. Murray into my practice.
Mr. Jim Wood, CEO of HCA Memorial Medical Center
was equally impressed with the talents and
background of Dr. Murray and therefore I want to
thank him for his supporting role in bringing Dr.
John Murray to the Jacksonville community. I know
that after eight years of plastic surgery
leadership at the Susan Komen/University of
Illinois, Dr. Murray will be intensely missed by his colleagues and
patients. We also want to welcome Dr. Murrayʼs
beautiful wife Dr. Paige Murray and their two
precious daughters Madison and Megan.
Soon
after Dr. Murrayʼs arrival in November we jointly
performed our first bilateral mastectomy
reconstruction at Memorial Hospital. With the
support of HCA Columbia, Dr. Murray is actively
working on bringing the first Nasdaq Spy imaging
unit to Jacksonville. This advanced technology
allows the surgeon to visualize circulation in
breast flaps during surgery so as to avoid tissue
loss during the post-operative period. Another
first for Jacksonville is the use of Palomarʼs
Lipokit which Dr. Murray discusses in this
newsletter.

Using
Fat in Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery:
a
novel technique
Dr.
John D. Murray 
Excess fat is our
friend, when used in the right places! Using
one's own unwanted fat, to give a more youthful
appearance to the face or to improve the shape of
a reconstructed breast, has been performed for the
last 20 years. However, the amount of fat
that survived has traditionally been unpredictable
and often discouraging. But, concentrating
the unwanted fat may significantly improve fat
survival!
To that end, we wish
to introduce the Lipokit! The Lipokit (Medikhan,
Republic of Korea) is an all-in-one FDA approved
medical device for collecting, filtering, and
transferring one's own fat for use in cosmetic and
reconstructive plastic surgery. Most
importantly, this technology filters the fat to
its cellular components. Doing so may
encourage the fat cells to more reliably perform
sub-cellular activities, thus improving chances of
their survival and the cosmetic or reconstructive
result!
We
are excited to be one of the first plastic
surgical centers in the United States to use this
technology.

I have worked at Obi Plastic Surgery Clinic for
the past 7 years! I absolutely

I am married to a wonderful man of 12
years, John. I have 2 daughters and a son and the
most proud grandmother of an amazing 3 year old Ethan
and a beautiful 1 year old Maci.
In my spare time I enjoy spending
